Original observation #328145 (Mushroom Observer)
A scattered group of several very large post-mature specimens growing in moss in densely packed soil under a single mature beech tree, with a few red oaks in the immediate vicinity. Note the dark brown caps and stipes with prominent reticulation in some specimens. The flesh was mild. I am going to call these ferrugineus for lack of a better ID to species. I've never seen these grow in this spot in the last 5 years.
