In lawn below spruce tree. Pores & stem readily bruise blue. Ammonia on cap surface has no effect; on cap flesh bleaches "blue" flesh back to pale tan/beige. This mushroom looks con-specific with a few collections identified as Boletus luridus on this site but seems to differ from most of the pictured collections and from aspects of the description on Wikipedia. The pores are not red and seem wider than typical B. luridus. The stem is short relative to cap diameter; the cap is shades of ocher grading into burnt purples and browns. (Is this more typical of the eastern North American forms?)
