Growing under Quercus nigra, in relatively sandy soil. Four specimens scattered within a few square feet. Both cap and stipe cracking, however it's been dry and hot over the last few days. Pores were more yellow than photos indicate; shallow and staining blue then resolving to brownish-red. Cap flesh white/pale yellow, not staining. Stipe bruising blue upon handling. Stipe flesh yellow, slightly staining in small/scattered areas after several minutes, then fading back to yellow. Odor and taste mild.
