these beautiful bright red Mycena were found in only one spot in the duff of Pitch Pine on sandy soil after a day of hard rain. Most were bright red but a few had begun to fade to orange. The stipe is scurfy red and the gills are distinctly red to red-orange marginate while the gill face is pale orange to cream color. This collection agrees well with all the western North American observations on MO.
