Original observation #341983 (Mushroom Observer)
Single fb growing in mixed woods. Stipe 3.0 x 0.75 cm. Flesh had traces of bluing when cut. Spore print olive brown. Spores ~ 10.0-12.2 X 3.9-4.3 microns, fusoid to subfusoid and smooth. KOH on cap was dark reddish brown KOH on flesh was pale reddish. Stem was eroded by bugs so it was difficult to get a clear picture of the color or ornamentation. There was some white mycelium at base of stipe. It looks like Xerocomus hypoxanthus but the KOH reaction indicates Xerocomus hemixanthus. Could not find spore data for that species however.
