Found growing on the underside of a large, barkless hardwood tree decaying near the trail in Shenandoah National Park. Decaying tree also growing Galerina marginata, eyelash fungus, and moss, with several inches of snow on the ground. Specimen had water inside the cups which left a blackish liquid on the hands when collecting as well as remnants of the brown scurfy powder from outer flesh.
