A solitary specimen in soil fruiting under leaf litter at the side of a fallen log. Cap: 6 cm. Bruised yellow, especially at margin. Stipe: 8 cm. X 8 mm., with large thick ring. I had difficulty removing the entire stipe because it was partially buried under the log and entangled in vines. Some yellow fragments of the stipe base, along with white mycelium, remained in the soil and I mangled the cap a bit, as well, while removing the specimen. Pleasant odor. KOH yellow on cap.
