One of multiple flushing sections of a Lacey, WA construction site that I have been monitoring and anticipating(Morchella) since last summer(2018). This phenomenon is one of the proof positives for urban morels(especially M. importuna). If you see a large development or construction site during summer months, make a note of it and return in early May(at least here in Western Washington State). The likelihood for M. importuna with this method is always high. Not a given, but a good rule of thumb if you can't get up to the mountains for naturals(e.g. Morchella snyderi). I harvested one fruiting body from each of the four photographed locations here today(for dehydration/herbarium collection/voucher). I also returned later in the day and found another half pound on an adjacent strip of grass/cement(all harvests/fruiting spots within a few feet of lamp posts). Ladder like pits with grooved notch to stipe=fieldmark for M. importuna(along with construction site, disturbed, landscape habitat).
