Disturbed ground
The Herbarium of Michael Kuo. Cap 35-50 mm a maturity; blocky-convex at first, expanding to broadly convex; dry; medium brown fibrillose-squamulose over a pale brown ground; brown over the disc; the margin not lined, often soft and white; KOH yellow. Gills free; crowded; lamellulae frequent; whitish in buttons, then pink, then slowly Agaricus brown; at first covered by a thin, white veil. Stem 35-50 x 7-12 mm; equal or subclavate; glabrous; whitish, discoloring a little brownish; ring high, white, pendant, fragile; basal mycelium white. Flesh white unchanging. Odor pleasant, not distinctive. 4/13/18: Pileipellis a cutis of hyaline elements with interspersed aggregations of upright brown elements; elements smooth, 5-12.5 microns wide, terminal cells cylindric with rounded apices. Cheilocystidia basidiolelike or slightly more swollen-clavate. Immature-looking spores 6-7 x 4-5 microns; ellipsoid; smooth; thick-walled; golden in KOH. XIX: 35
