United States, Ohio, Tar Hollow State Park and Forest. 3 fruiting bodies growing scattered among Fagus grandifolia duff under Fagus grandifolia. Quercus sect, Lobatae and Acer saccharum nearby. Quercus alba, Pinus echinata, Pinus rigida, Sassafras albidum, Oxydendron arboreum and Zanthoxylum americanum further away. Caps caramel brown; smooth; dry; 2.2 cm and 1.3 cm wide in the 2 mature specimens respectively. Lamellae blood-red; dull brown in exsiccata; ~1.0 cm wide in widest individual lamella. Mature fruiting bodies ~3.5 cm and ~4.3 cm tall respectively.

Google Map

When multiple species are queried (separated by semi-colons), different colored markers denote each individual species.
