United States, Ohio, Tar Hollow State Park and Forest. Growing from the side of a hardwood log. Texture fleshy but not fragile. Cap finely hairy. Spines rounded, under 6 mm long and not formed by the splitting of pores (which were not present). Citrus-like odor in fresh specimen. Odor sweet and somewhat fruity in dried specimen. I can see how this odor could be described as "fig-like". Cystidia not visible under low magnigication. 5% KOH faintly orange to pinkish on cap surface. Melzer's reagent orange to brown on spines.
